Guided Biofilm Therapy
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a modern approach to dental hygiene focused on the removal of plaque, biofilm, and surface stains in a gentle and comfortable manner. At Crowfoot Dental Studio, we use the AIRFLOW Prophylaxis Master system as part of our prevention-focused approach to supporting long-term oral health.
During treatment, biofilm is disclosed to help identify areas of buildup that may otherwise be difficult to visualize, particularly between teeth, around restorations, braces, implants, and other hard-to-reach areas. Once identified, biofilm and surface stains are carefully removed using a combination of warm water, air, and fine erythritol powder.
Many patients with sensitive teeth or dental anxiety find Guided Biofilm Therapy to be a more comfortable experience compared to traditional cleaning methods. The gentle airflow technology allows for effective cleaning while helping improve access around the teeth and gums.
Guided Biofilm Therapy has become an important part of how we approach preventive dental care. Our goal is not only to help patients maintain a healthy smile today, but to support a healthy foundation long term through education, prevention, and comprehensive oral health care.
Does Crowfoot Dental Studio offer Airflow cleaning or Guided Biofilm Therapy?
Yes. Crowfoot Dental Studio offers Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) using Airflow technology for a gentle and comfortable cleaning experience. GBT helps remove plaque, biofilm, and surface stains and is especially beneficial for patients with sensitive teeth, dental anxiety, braces, or implants.
Do you see anxious or nervous patients?
Absolutely. We understand that dental visits can feel stressful for some patients. Our approach focuses on communication, education, and creating a comfortable environment where patients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout their visit.
Can I get a same-day appointment for a dental emergency?
We strive to accommodate same-day emergency assessments whenever possible for concerns such as severe pain, swelling, broken teeth, or infection. Treatment recommendations depend on diagnosis, scheduling, and the nature of the condition.
